Brooklyn's Sensual Harassment is celebrating Christmas early this year by offering up their new album, Alpha Draconis, for download / stream on their website.
If the odd cover doesn't get you interested, maybe the prospect of listening to melancholy synth pop will. The recording is a little rough around the edges, but it's only for added effect. It definitely hasn't translated into rough songwriting, so don't get caught listening to these guys with your pants down.

After blogging a track of his back in October, Uphill Racer has kept me up on his various music exploits. It turns out that he's pretty prolific, and isn't afraid to shift from one style to another without hesitation.
The latest Uphill Racer album is a compilation of soft, instrumental miscellanea that should relax just about any mind. This thing is packed with light, atmospheric sounds, and most of the tracks are cut just before the two-minute mark. Kind reminds me of an album I dug earlier this year.
The LP's title is Captured Moods, and it's streaming in full via the Uphill Racer bandcamp. If you dig on it, it's downloadable via a pay-what-chu-wanna-pay-bro basis. Enjoy:
First off, I have to thank YouTube user mgfoster for turning me onto this band. Their name is Big Blood, and they've got a new album out via dontrustheruin. The title: Dark Country Magic.
The music certainly delivers what the title promises. This album built on lots of acoustic guitars, psychedelic effects, lo-fi drums, and odd female vocals that sound like a cross between Feist and Joanna Newsom. It's something I could see Woods fans getting into as well.

As many of y'all may remember, I wasn't the biggest fan of Toro Y Moi's debut album, which dropped earlier this year. At the end of the day, I feel Causers had more possibilities than actualities.
Toro is gearing up for another album release in February, and it's titled Underneath the Pine. He's still doing it through Carpark, and has got a much more fleshed out sound on this first track to drop from the album.
"Still Sound" has a great retro beat that sounds like it's straight out of the 70s. Toro seems to have worked harder on getting his vocals on key, and he's not using as much reverb to distort himself in the mix. It's a nice change of pace. The chorus is upbeat, and I love the jazzy synth chords that bubble in the background. Dig on it:
