Tame Impala- "Apocalypse Dreams"

New Trackschriscap2 Comments

Australian psychedelic rockers Tame Impala announced a new record this week called Lonerism, and debuted one of the album tracks along with the announcement. That track, called "Apocalypse Dreams," befits its title. It's a lengthy, extremely psychedelic piece that seems almost symphonic in scope, evoking the spacey orchestral work of Pink Floyd circa Dark Side Of The Moon. It's also surprisingly dark, given that their 2010 debut Innerspeaker was a rather sunny affair overall. Unfortunately, due to that pesky reverb, the lyrical content is a little hard to decipher, but that's okay -- the eerie synths, heavy guitar leads, and spacious psychedelic atmosphere of this track speak for themselves. It's no surprise that legendary producer Dave Fridmann of Mercury Rev handled the mixing on this track.
