Tjutjuna - "Mousetrap"

Tjutjuna is entrancing me with this new track off of their upcoming LP Westerner.

"Mousetrap" is the perfect name for this song as it really feels like it's closing in on me the longer it goes on. The way guitars and depth build is a big part of the feeling of being surrounded by sounds. Mogwai is what comes to mind with what I'm hearing especially in a lot of the sounds that Tjutjuna has put together. I don't think there is anything wrong with that comparison because of there is one band that knows atmospheric build up it's Mogwai, and the guys seem to have a lot to work with in that department as well.

Last week, we posted about the up-and-coming psych rock outfit Tjutjuna. Their album is currently streaming in full, and is available for digital purchase now on their bandcamp. It'll be on vinyl next week.

Stream the new Tjutjuna LP

Tjutjuna is a Colorado outfit specializing in densely layered psych rock with a lot of urgency. Their songs develop with increasing noise and intensity; and just as it seems this band can't get any louder, they manage to fit more volume into the mix. If you get off on the sensory overload bands like Lightning Bolt and the USA is a Monster throw into their albums, this should be on list of bands to visit, too.

Luckily, the band's self-titled album is easy to hear because they're streaming it all over the net. They're also selling it for five bucks on their bandcamp page, which isn't too bad either. Give a listen below.
