Sivyj Yar - "The Snow shall fall a long while"
New TracksCommentHere's the glorious closing track from Russian black metal act Sivyj Yar's new album Burial Shrouds, out today via Avantgarde. We'll come back to this in a few months when we're being battered by another brutal New England winter.
The Clearing Path - "Holy Waters"
New TracksCommentFrom Watershed between Earth and Firmament, the debut album from Italian black metal artist The Clearing Path (Gabriele Gramaglia), out July 11 via Avantgarde Music. I appreciate the soupçon of Converge-esque metalcore in the mix.
Grayceon - Pearl and the End of Days
New Tracks1 CommentSan Francisco-based doom/progressive/noise outfit Grayceon just released a new EP yesterday for free on Flenser Record's bandcamp page. This is certainly one of the most exciting pieces of progressive metal I've heard this year. If you're a fan of dreamy, ethereal vocals being layered on top of sludge riffs, unpredictable time-signature and instrumentation changes, and a general sense of adventurousness within the confines of heavy music, give these guys a listen.
