Beach House - "Wishes"

VideosadminComment

Beach House drops an Eric Wareheim-directed video for the track "Wishes," and it's absolutely insane. The stellar track comes from the band's latest album, Bloom, and it's a hilarious goof and spoof on sporting events.

Just about everything in the video is ridiculous; however, what Wareheim does so well is compounds all of these silly elements to create a world that actually seems pretty legitimate in it's own right.

Stream: Beach House- Bloom Baltimore dream pop duo Beach House is set to release its latest album, Bloom, on Sub Pop Records next week, but the entire album is now streaming for your listening pleasure on NPR Music. As you may remember, Beach House's last album, Teen Dream, was one of my favorites of 2010, so it'll be exciting to see where the duo's music goes next.

Following "Myth," Beach House has just released its second single from the forthcoming album Bloom. This is a strong single, and sounds like a bit of a progression for Beach House. It's a sleepy track with delicate keyboards, distant drums, and an ethereal vibe. Victoria LeGrand sounds especially carefree here, and with summer around the corner, this track arrives at the perfect time.

Beach House- "Myth"

Beach House drops a new track titled "Myth," which is from the duo's newly announced album, Bloom. After improving their recording quality on Devotion, and increasing the variety of sounds in their music on Teen Dream, Beach House seems content to settle on the advances they've made with this new single. "Myth" swims through familiar territory, and just focuses on pumping out a passionate dream pop opus backed with glistening synths and guitars.

Stream the track via the gigantic widget below, and look for the album it's from on Sub Pop in May.

Radiohead- The King of Limbs

Radiohead's latest LP is a fan-pleasing piece of work. It's loaded with beautiful and well-recorded sounds, and even Thom Yorke's songwriting shows some muscle with moments like "Lotus Flower" and "Separator." But there's something that clicks away and eats away at the first half of this album, in my opinion. Though I like what I'm hearing, I can't say I'm enjoying how it's organized. It kinda sounds like the beat arrangements were produced on a "ctrl + c / ctrl + v" basis.

The second half of this album is a bit of a different story, though. "Give Up the Ghost" and "Codex" are a really nice break from the beats, but I can't help but feel a little underwhelmed by what's going on here. Nothing here hit me with the emotional impact of earlier albums.
