Higher Brothers - "Wudidong"

BANGER ALERT! "Wudidong," the hottest single so far from Chinese trap rap quartet Higher Brothers, has received an official music video via 88rising. Their debut album Black Cab is out now; give it a try if you're looking to adventure outside the Western hip hop bubble.

Zuriaake - 孤雁 (Gu Yan)

A pretty impressive atmospheric black metal project, which as far as we can tell is actually from China -- out via Pest Productions.

Kijinoise - Kijinoise XIV

Here's something that caught my ears while wading through Bandcamp earlier today. Kijinoise is a Chinese musician who has been uploading projects quite prolifically since late last month, using solely a guitar to deliver a fuzzy fusion of drone, noise, progressive rock, doom, and free improvisational elements. The results haven't been totally mind-blowing thus far, but I must say the textures of this self-titled debut are actually quite nice, almost achieving a Sunn O)))-level heaviness at points. Find this guy a label! In the meantime, I'll just wait a few more days for another release.

Update: It appears as though all the above linked projects have been consolidated into this first one, since renamed Kijinoise XIV.

Stalin Gardens- Shanghai Void

With some wild, stringy guitars combined with some faux English vocals and a heavy atmosphere, China's Stalin Gardens have a pretty impenetrable and tortured post-punk album on their hands with Shanghai Void. The band rips through the nine tracks on this new album with the dissonant, narrated swagger of the Fall and the artistically informed depression of Joy Division.
