Foxygen contributes a song inspired by '70s TV show themes to Amazon's upcoming American Girl special. As should be expected from the duo, notwithstanding Star Power, "Be Yourself" offers a bit of lavish psych pop and the best kind of nostalgia trip.

Foxygen - Hang
ReviewsCommentShape-shifting singer-songwriters Sam France and Jonathan Rado make a triumphant return as Foxygen to deliver their most lavishly orchestrated set of songs yet.
Foxygen - "America"
New Tracks1 CommentFoxygen - ...And Star Power
ReviewsCommentFoxygen does a complete 180 on their new record, saying goodbye to the clean production on their last album, and heading into lo-fi territory. However, they throw out any semblance of good songwriting in the process.
Foxygen - "We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic"
Videos1 CommentFoxygen has put out a new video for the title track from its latest LP, We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic, and it's a real trip. The duo appropriates recognizable old-school psychedelic visual effects--the graveyard setting evoking the LSD sequence in Easy Rider, in particular--but the twosome's immense energy and modern sensibility still come through strong, making for a captivating viewing experience rather than a tired one.
Like the video, We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic is a thoroughly fantastic blend of nostalgia and modernity. Check out the review here:
Jonathan Rado - Law & Order
Reviews1 CommentSinger-songwriter Jonathan Rado releases a solo debut quickly after his main musical project, Foxygen, takes off with a successful album release earlier this year.
Jonathan Rado - "Hand In Mine"
New Tracks1 CommentHot on the heels of being signed by Jagjaguwar records and releasing a really enjoyable album under the name of the songwriting duo known as Foxygen, Jonathan Radio is about to drop a new LP on Woodist under his own name. The title: Law and Order. The album is coming out September 3rd, and I was pretty psyched at the prospect considering how much I've loved Jonathan's contributions in Foxygen. However, the track "Hand In Mine" doesn't offer much beyond what I've already heard from artists like Adam Green. His recent collaboration with Binki Shapiro comes to mind, actually:
Jonathan and Green are obviously pulling from a lot of the same inspirations, but the singing on "Hand In Mine" feels noticeably sloppy--and not in a flattering way. The vocal melodies aren't exactly hitting me either, which might have to do with the somewhat listless vocal deliveries. Whatever Law and Order delivers, I hope it's better than this.
