Dark cabaret outfit Roma Amor has a new album out on Old Europa Cafe called Una torbida estate. A couple of spots feature lyrics from traditional German songs, including this bittersweet number you might recognize from the end of Kubrick's Paths of Glory.

Premiere: Dumbo Gets Mad - "Misanthropulsar"

Italian psych-pop duo Dumbo Gets Mad is prepping a new album and has allowed us to share its first track. We're still trying to get "Plumy Tale" out of our heads five years later, but "Misanthropulsar" here is maybe every bit as much the earworm. The twosome is sounding considerably more refined than on previous effort Quantum Leap and definitely has the potential to top its 2011 debut, which Anthony loved so:

From Watershed between Earth and Firmament, the debut album from Italian black metal artist The Clearing Path (Gabriele Gramaglia), out July 11 via Avantgarde Music. I appreciate the soupçon of Converge-esque metalcore in the mix.

Blue Willa - Self-Titled

Italy's Blue Willa has an eerie style that I'm digging a lot on this self-titled record of theirs. The folk-inspired simplicity, dissonant guitars, and sharp howls of the project's frontwoman are all too potent to deny. Enjoy!

Dumbo Gets Mad- "Bam Bam"

The Italian psych pop project known as Dumbo Gets Mad has dropped one more single from its forthcoming full-length, which is set to drop in January via Bad Panda Records. I'm digging the quirky and slightly lo-fi feel of this track. The light beat, falsetto vocals, and bouncy keyboards remind me a bit of Ariel Pink, but some of the effects serve as a reminder that Dumbo Gets Mad thrives in a world that's a bit more acid-washed.

Shizune- Mono No Aware: Between Eternity and the Burial

Italy's Shizune, which is a group of post-hardcore revivalists that I've featured on the site before, have a new EP streaming on their Bandcamp, and the band's production sounds slightly improved. Nice! Of course, their tight playing, passionate vocals, and ferocity are maintained on what is, to my knowledge, their second release of 2012.
