KayCyy - Get Used to It
ReviewsCommentHot on the heels of a pretty inspired EP with Gesaffelstein, KayCyy's new tape is disappointingly derivative.
Spraynard - Mable
New TracksCommentI still don't understand why Spraynard haven't received more attention over the past few years. To get some background, check out their excellent 2011 Asian Man Records LP, Funtitled, here. Complete with great songwriting, soaring hooks, tight instrumentals, and smart, emotive lyrics, it astounds me that the record didn't propel them into headlining more tours and playing bigger venues.
Hopefully that'll change soon. After an almost year-long hiatus followed by some smaller releases, The Pennsylvania pop-punk trio have put out their new full-length, Mable, on Jade Tree Records. The opener, "Applebee's Bar", sets the exuberant and impassioned tone for the nine tracks to follow. The bigger label budget lends the production a slicker, more polished sound, but the guitars still have ample shimmer and crunch, while the drums sound more present and punchy than on previous releases. Stream the album in its entirety above.

Rotting Christ - "Χ Ξ Σ (666)"
New TracksCommentSome dark visuals for for the latest single from prolific Greek metal outfit Rotting Christ. The band's new record, Kata Ton Daimona Eaytoy, is out now on Season of Mist. Enjoy!

Low - "So Blue"
New TracksCommentLow drops another track from the legendary indie rock band's latest album, The Invisible Way. The album is looking at a March release on Sub Pop records.
A lot like the previous track to drop from this album, Low has a knack for giving soft, pretty sounds the kind of urgency that reels me in pretty quickly.
The vocal harmonies on "So Blue" are incredibly beautiful, and the song grows in intensity very nicely as piano and guitar chords get hammered harder and harder. Enjoy!
VHÖL - "Grace"
New Tracks1 CommentCalifornia black metal outfit VHÖL is gearing up to drop its full-length debut on Profound Lore this April--on the 16th, to be exact. It's an energetic and somewhat catchy combo of black metal aggression and heavy metal style. It's like these guys are fans of worshiping at the altars of not just Darkthrone and Venom, but Judas Priest as well. Enjoy!
Blessed State- 2012 Demo
New TracksCommentSome catchy, energetic, and melodic hardcore punk coming from this new demo from Western Massachusetts' Blessed State. It's rough around the edges, but surely worth a listen. Some great guitar leads manage to shine through the grit of this recording, and some spots like the lone guitar introduction of the last track do come off as legitimately down in the dumps for music of this level of aggression. Enjoy!
Daylight Dies- "Infidel"
New Tracks1 CommentDaylight Dies is yet another amazing metal band from North Carolina releasing an album today. This single is off of their fourth LP, A Frail Becoming, which combines the brutality of older Opeth with the somber nature of doom outfits like My Dying Bride or Novembre. It’s hard to think that this band isn’t from Sweden, but hey, never judge a book by its melodic, metallic cover.
