The Derevolutions - "Now You Know My Name"

A bit of fun from the Derevolutions on this video for "Now You Know My Name." Kudos to Tristan Jalleh for the fun, colorful, domino-centric animation attached to the song.

The Derevolutions are a Boston-based indie pop project whose tracks are loaded with danceable beats, sunny guitars, and unabashedly sweet melodies. Oh, there's an occasional rap verse as well.

It's not a bad listen--especially if you're trying to squeeze the last bit of warmth out of 2014 before fall is in full swing.

Stream: Mikal Cronin - MCII Mikal Cronin is bringing out the first truly summer ready album of the year.

All of the songs embrace a brand of pop rock that will get your body moving and ready for the sun. Cronin clearly knows what he is doing with these songs as they feel beautifully full and warm just like the season they clearly embrace. Most importantly they are fun without losing the personality that can come from making music like this, while still having that dance happy tempo to them and soft instrumentation that occasionally ramps up the volume.

Cat Power- Sun

Stream: Cat Power- Sun It appears that the moody indie folk songstress Chan Marshall, aka Cat Power, has seen the light of day. Her new album Sun is a glimmering, effervescent, and thoroughly enjoyable album with an inspired sound that breaches aesthetic boundaries Marshall had never even dared to approach in the past. It's also a tremendous comeback for Marshall, who hasn't released an album of original material since 2006's The Greatest. Sun shines with stuttering electronic drum beats and crystalline synths, while Marshall's distinctive, lush coo and gentle guitar plucking remain firmly in place as well. Tracks like the piano led single "Ruin" and the propulsive "Sun" are immediate highlights, but the real standout is the penultimate track "Nothin But Time," an 11-minute anthem of hope in the face of adversity--adversity which Marshall herself has undoubtedly faced over her very troubled career.

The entire album is now streaming at NPR Music, and will be released on September 4th. You won't want to sleep on this one.
