TEEN - "Carolina"

Flowers: that's the physical theme of Brooklyn indie pop outfit TEEN's new video for the title track from the Carolina EP they released last month. The video follows performance artist Megha Barnabas, who also holds director credits, as she prances through crowded areas handing flowers to various individuals. With the attire to fit, a vibrantly colored dress covered entirely in flower patterns, Barnabas' image is eccentric yet inviting. Perhaps the most rewarding moments in the clip are those in which the camera shows the reactions of those whom Barnabas approaches, which range from genuinely enthusiastic facial expressions of the flower recipients to the slightly awkward ones of those who turn her down. With the help of the charm Barnabas radiates as she dances throughout the city, the video effectively matches the fun-loving and somewhat whimsical nature of the song with its bright quirkiness.

A new plodding , twisting song from the Brooklyn-based band, TEEN.

This track has a certain earworm quality to it that I would not expect with the more offbeat progression of the music, but it definitely works. That's the true appeal of TEEN: Their strange musical energy is surprisingly infectious. And once the angular vocal melodies get stuck in your head don't expect them to be leaving anytime soon. "Carolina" has a really appealing build up throughout the whole song and the vocals are wonderful, and the MOOG synths are a nice touch as well.

This track comes from the band's forthcoming Carolina EP, which will be out via Carpark on May 28th. Enjoy!

Yeah, Brooklyn's TEEN doesn't exactly have a band name that sticks out in today's current indie landscape, however, the music the music itself is something worth writing home about.

It's dark, moody indie rock with loads of experimental, psychedelic sounds. There are a lot of great, etherial vocal harmonies through out the track featured in the video above, too. I really love the opening rhythm and bassline on this track, and the deadpan female vocals add an element of strangeness to the song as well.

Just when it seems like you're in for another Vivian / Dum Dum Girls knockoff, TEEN starts filling the mix with loads of weird synths and instrumentation toward the second half of this song. Am I surprised? Not really considering the band is fronted by Here We Go Magic keyboardist Teeny Lieberson. You've got to have an adventurous spirit working in a band like that, for sure.

TEEN's forthcoming album, In Limbo, will be out on August 28th on Carpark.
