Belgian pop artist and songwriter Angèle has offered one more preview before her third album, INSTINCT, releases on October 16 via GGL Records/Sony Music. Featuring Caroline Polachek and SebastiAn, “Love Triangle” finds her choosing between the two as things heat up.

The track premiered on Jack Saunders’ New Music Show on BBC Radio 1. Listen to the song below.

Produced by SebastiAn, co-produced by Angèle and longtime collaborator Tristan Salvati, it was recorded in Brussels. Angèle says in a press release that she was enamored by a dinner conversation between a group of friends about the particularities of a love triangle. 

“I later met SebastiAn in the studio in Paris, and we listened to some demos together. As soon as I heard the first notes of this completely crazy arpeggio, I remember thinking that this was exactly the direction I wanted to take. Within a few hours of working with SebastiAn and Tristan, the first version of ‘Love Triangle’ started to emerge — that wild arpeggio, club sounds, and an almost anthemic chorus,” she says.

“The words ‘Love Triangle’ came back to me, and this production felt like the perfect space to explore desire, choice, projection, and fear. Inviting Caroline Polachek onto the track felt obvious. I had crossed paths with her several times, and I’ve been a huge fan of her work, going back to her Chairlift days. I wanted to give another woman a voice in response to the first part of the story.”

INSTINCT is described as a personal journal of Angèle from the past three years. It was recorded over three years in Paris, Brussels, New York, Rome, and Spain, among other locations, marking her first set of English-language songs.

In 2027, Angèle will take INSTINCT on tour in Europe and North America. See those dates below.
