Throwing Muses' Kristin Hersh has today shared a third single from her upcoming 12th solo LP Sugar on Blackstone, out September 18 via Fire Records, hot on heels of last month's "Dark Eyed Junco" and the earlier "Sundial."

Written in the wake of a police shooting in which her friend Domonick Knight was killed at his home, "Moths" is a raw and vivid song about loss, delivered as only Kristin Hersh can do. Listen below:

Writing in a press release, Hersh had this to say about the song:

“Dizzy with distractions, we don’t always value the internal suicide of focus: when inspiration throws a glowing body across our windshield and we just keep driving. We were never Icarus, no delusions of grandeur, but wholly innocent to the what-happens-next of worldly values, and enraptured by that glowing body, the flame that’ll singe our wings and maybe worse. So? we ask the heavens and keep driving, calling it love, moths to a flame.”
