The Elephant 6 collective birthed many bands from its warm 90s psych folk & rock aura, including Of Montreal and Neutral Milk Hotel. But one of its most cultishly adored and abstract was The Olivia Tremor Control, who last put out a record back in 1999 (Black Foliage: Animation Music Vol. 1).

Now, the group is back with their third (and reportedly final) album, The Same Place, due out October 23 via The Elephant 6 Recording Co. The group shared two songs back in 2024, but have now put out a brief teaser for the record, aptly called "How Much Longer Can I Wait?" Check it out below:

The experimental group formed in the 90s alongside those aforementioned bands (as well as others like Beulah, Apples in the Stereo, and many more), and released only two records before seemingly going away. They revved up their musical engines again in the 2010s, reportedly beginning work on a new LP around the turn of the decade and playing shows from time to time.

Production on new work halted, though, when founding member Bill Doss died in 2012. The band eventually released its new music in 2024, but then that was quickly followed by the loss of another core member: Will Cullen Hart, who passed away the same day those tracks were put out.

The band now consists of Eric Harris, John Fernandes, Peter Erchick, Derek Almstead, and AJ Griffin (who joined in 2011).
