A drought for Massive Attack and Tom Waits fans has finally broken. As hinted at earlier this week, the fnew song – which is the first since 2020 from the Attack camp, and first original cut from Waits since 2011 – is here: "Boots on the Ground."

You can check it on streaming, but a 12" vinyl is coming out soon, featuring a spoken-word Waits B-side, "The Fly." Preorder that here. Listen here:

Massive Attack reached out to Waits for a team-up years ago, according to the enigmatic vocalist. "Their long release delay never worried me. Today, as in all of mankind's yesterdays, guarantees this type of song will never go out of style."

In keeping with Massive Attack's activist stance, the song isn't out on Spotify, and the vinyl will be an "EcoSonic" pressing, made with fully-recycled material. The song is the first of a few Massive Attack singles that will be unveiled in advance of their coming live dates, which are below:
