London-formed quartet The Big Moon are back with a new album, Forever – out October 30 via Fiction Records – and a fresh outlook inspired by songwriter Juliette Jackson's recent experience with hearing loss caused by a cholesteatoma, a rare type of cyst that can grow on the eardrum.
Having permanently lost "most of the hearing on one side," Jackson found herself writing from a place of healing, "a happy ending that didn't exist yet." "I didn’t know if I would ever get to that point," she shares in a press release, "but, by projecting and almost tricking myself into it, it actually became a really nice way of writing.”
Watch the video for lead track "Gravity" below.
“At the time I wrote this song, every time I collected my son from nursery he would run and slam into me and give me the biggest hug," Jackson says adding:
"I knew it wouldn’t last forever, and I savoured every one, and this song ended up commemorating that feeling. It’s about a love that you’re never really separated from, just elasticated, ready to snap back together.”
Forever, the band's fourth album, was recorded over three weeks in Norfolk and co-produced by The Big Moon and Sam Cohen (Kevin Corby).
