Opeth - Pale Communion
Reviews1 CommentOpeth serves up another piece of progressive rock nostalgia.
Blood Orange - Cupid Deluxe
Reviews4 CommentsThe latest release from songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Devonte Hynes, a.k.a. Blood Orange, engages in some of the most excruciating 80s revivalism I've heard all year.
MMOSS - "Nothing Left" / Quilt - "Open Eyes"
New TracksComment
Two New Hampshire bands with equal amounts of passion for vintage psychedelic rock and pop come together for a new 10" split that's getting released this month on Beyond Beyond Is Beyond Records. Grab a copy here, and stream two tracks from the 10" above. Enjoy!
Kylesa - "Quicksand"
New TracksCommentStream: Kylesa - "Quicksand" The buzz around this new track is the it is very reminiscent of some old Smashing Pumpkins songs, this is true to the point that I could easily confuse it for one.
The most notable feature of this is the guitar groove which lives and breathes Pumpkins, and it really feels like they are wearing the influence on their shoulders with it. The main difference of course is the vocals, this is where Kylesa makes it their own with haunting and echoed drone meshing in with that riff for one nostalgic acid trip of a song.
Wild Nothing- "Paradise"
New Tracks1 CommentWild Nothing drops yet another track from it's forthcoming album, which will drop via Captured Tracks on August 28th. The title: Nocturne.
If the last track Wild Nothing dropped signified a crush on the 80s, "Paradise" is pure infatuation. The drum beat and synth sound a lot like something that would have backed a New Order track back in the day. The low-toned vocals are a nice touch as well. Not the best song I've heard these guys pull together, but it should hit the spot for those with new wave nostalgia.
