You know R&B is taking hold of underground music when a band like Yeasayer is showing it off as an influence. While, on paper, it may come off as a bit of a surprise, it doesn't sound that alien in execution, and feels like a logical progression past the album they released a few years ago, Odd Blood. Yeah, I didn't care for that album much, but Yeasayer's experiments with electronics and vocal effects definitely feel a bit more focused, refined, and unique this time around.

Yeasayer's next album, Fragrant World, is looking at an August 21st release date.

Prefuse 73 + Yeasayer Drummer Remix Epstein

In an idea curated by the record label Asthmatic Kitty--which I stumbled upon looking for info on the new Julianna Barwick record--Prefuse 73 and the drummer from Yeasayer are let loose in the back catalog of AK artist Epstein for some intensive remixing.

The result is 13 tracks of various sounds and moods. Also, it costs no more than one dollar via Epstein's bandcamp page.

Epstein's latest album is When Man is Full He Falls Asleep. Yeasayer's drummer is billed as "Jaytram." Stream the remix album below:
