'Backrooms' end credits features new Boards of Canada song

May 29 marked the release of both Inferno, the new album by Scotland's Boards of Canada, and the film Backrooms, directed by Kane Parsons. For those who couldn't decide which they were more excited for: Good news! You don't have to choose between the two, because the song "The Word Becomes Flesh" from Inferno is featured during the film's end credits.

This comes as a surprise, as it would mean the two projects collaborated to some extent in finding the right song to fit the mood, likely months in advance. It also means that those lucky enough to attend the May 7 premiere perhaps unknowingly heard the song weeks before it's official release.

At the end of its opening weekend, Backrooms has already amassed a massive $118 million worldwide, marking the largest opening ever for A24.
