GB builds a hazy summer evening in new single "The Next Day"

GB the experimental guitar project of Copenhagen-born artist Gustav Berntsen — returns today with a new single, "The Next Day." It's the third promotional track off his upcoming record Herzsprung, out August 21 via AD 93, following the earlier releases of "Adrenaline" and "Starsound."

Listen to "The Next Day" below:

The new single is meant to be "slow-burning for summer days." Like a golden haze, its open-tuned guitar warmly hums over a sunny, up-tempo beat. Blending acoustic rock with hits of groove and math — sewing these together with a thread of ghostly chamber pop backed by cellos, pianos, and tender vocal harmonies — "The Next Day" is a menagerie of relaxing sound.

GB debuted in 2024 with Gusse Music, a cult album that wallowed in short, down-tempo meditations and light electronic flourishes. With Herzsprung, he aims to expand his sonic palette to approach rock composition from the outside. While his lyricism remains scattered and serendipitous — according to a press release, his words came mostly from cut-up pieces of newspapers he found lying around London — his music has become more focused on melody. Underneath the vibrant layers of strings and guitar are flickers of jazz fusion, noise, psychedelia, and pop.

GB will embark on a promotional tour for Herzsprung this fall, traveling to cities in Europe and The UK. Tickets are available now.
