Tricky has announced his return to solo work with news of the July 17 release of his 15th studio album, Different When It's Silent, via his label False Idols. The Bristol-born trip hop pioneer has spent the past 5 or so years exploring various side projects, including Lonely Guest, Theis Thaws, and an album recorded with Polish vocalist and longtime collaborator Marta Złakowska.

Złakowska also features on new single "Out of Place," out today. In fact, it was originally written for her, intended for her 2025 solo release Out The Way, but ended up being kept for Tricky's own record, where it features as the closing track.

Different When It's Silent was recorded between Bristol and Tricky's home in France, and also features guest vocals by Mitch Sanders. Sanders' 2025 EP Saloon featured Tricky on the song "Mum."
