Long Beach rapper Vince Staples has released a new song titled "Cotton," the third and final single taken from his upcoming album Cry Baby, due out this Friday via Loma Vista.
Watch the official video for the guitar-driven track below:
Co-produced with Mike Hector and Oh Gosh Leotus, "Cotton" sees Staples full-on in his era of funky crooning. "Drop the needle, turn up that volume / Record spinning, it's so hypnotic / Music makes me feel just like cotton / Pick me up when I'm falling down," Staples sings during the song's main chorus.
The video for the track, once again co-directed by Bradley J. Calder, features a montage of Black American history and the return of an American flag shot full of holes seen in the videos for Cry Baby's earlier singles "Blackberry Marmalade" and "White Flag."
Staples will livestream his album release show Thursday at the El Ray Theatre in Los Angeles, and he recently appeared at Undefeated La Brea to give away tickets to the performance. Watch here.
Earlier this month, the titular white flag from his previous single flew outside DIY punk club The Smell, signaling the presence of Staples and his band, who rehearsed inside the dingy LA venue.
